New data on the Syrphidae (Diptera) of Iran, with descriptions of two new species Gilasian, Ebrahim Vujić, Ante Hauser, Martin Parchami-Araghi, Mehrdad Zootaxa 2017 4303 1 27 50 (Sack, 1931) Sack 1931 [151,597,1695,1722] Insecta Syrphidae Merodon Animalia Diptera 16 43 Arthropoda species quadrinotatus     Examinedmaterial. IRAN, Fars province: 2 ♀, Firouzabad, Meimand, Kuh-e Sefidar, 28°56′02.4″N 52°48′58.0″E,  2080 m,  9.iv.2006, leg. E. Gilasian.   Remarks.The females of  M. quadrinotatusare distinguished from those of other  Merodonspecies by the following combination of characters: body length at least 12 mm; antenna black; scutum with long blackish pile between wing bases; legs entirely black; mid coxa bare posteriorly; abdomen black, with blackish pile; tergites 3–4 with a pair of whitish medial patches of pile; abdominal tergites without pollinose fasciae. This species was collected on the southern slopes of Zagros Mountains. The female holotypeof this species is from Iraq. Hurkmans (1993)examined a second female from Turkey.
