Parthenicus knighti Henry, 1982: 359 Henry and Wheeler, 1988: 439 Schuh, 1995: 179 Synopsis of the Eastern North American Species of the Plant Bug Genus Parthenicus, with Descriptions of Three New Species and a Revised Key (Heteroptera: Miridae: Orthotylinae) HENRY, THOMAS J. American Museum Novitates 2007 2007-12-12 3593 1 32 4DTLX Henry Henry [815,1113,211,235] Insecta Miridae Parthenicus Animalia Hemiptera 12 13 Arthropoda species knighti      Parthenicus knighti Henry, 1982: 359(n.sp.);  Henry and Wheeler, 1988: 439(cat.);  Schuh, 1995: 179(cat.).  DIAGNOSIS: This species, known only from macropterous specimens, is distinguished by the pale legs and antennal segments I and II; testaceous dorsum ( figs. 5, 6), accented with red at the base and outside margin of the clavus, the inside margin of the corium, and the basal area of the cuneus; and by the long rostrum that extends to the fifth abdominal segment in males and to the base of the ovipositor in the only known female.  HOST: Unknown. A handwritten label on one paratype malefrom Ft. Meyers indicates that it was collected (May 12) on a tidal flat, suggesting that the host is a coastal inhabitant, perhaps a halophytic plant.  DISTRIBUTION: Known only from coastal areas of Hillsborough (Tampa) and Lee (Ft. Meyers) Counties, Florida( Henry 1982).   TYPE MATERIAL EXAMINED: Holotype3: USA:  Florida: Lee Co.: Fort Myers, 26.64028 °N 81.8725 °W,  12 May 1928, E.D. Ball(AMNH_PBI 00070498) (USNM).
