Material examined. Holotype; male, India: Uttarakhand; Tala, 1100 m, 30°30’27.8”N 79°09’46.8”E, 12-vi-2009, Pandher& Parey, ( NPC). Paratypes: 1 femalepresumed to be this species, collection data same as of holotype. India: Meghalaya; Cherrapungee, 1200 m, 25°14’43.4”N 91°44’19.6”E, 26-v-2011, 2 males, Pandher( NPC).
Diagnosis. The male genitalia in general are very similar to those of Hydromanicus luctuosus Ulmer 1905, reported from Sikkim, and Hy. zetachiel Malicky 2017and Hy. eleasar Malicky 1993, both reported from Nepal. Hydromanicus digitatusand Hy. eleasarare similar as they both have very long preanal appendages (reaching well beyond the midlength of tergum X in dorsal view), but the apical segment of each inferior appendage is slightly truncate in Hy. digitatus, whereas the apical segment is pointed in Hy. eleasar. In Hy. digitatusand Hy. luctosus, segment IX is very broad in lateral view and the apical segment of each inferior appendage is truncate in these two species. However, the preanal appendages are longer in Hy. digitatus(reaching well beyond midlength of tergum X) whereas the preanal appendages are smaller in Hy. luctuosus(reaching only to midlength of tergum X). Hydromanicus digitatusand Hy. zetachielboth have truncate apical segments of inferior appendages, but they differ in the length of the preanal appendages (being longer in Hy. digitatus, but smaller in Hy. zetachiel).
Description, adult male. Color in alcohol dark brown, dorsum of head dark, forewings pale yellow. Body with pubescence denuded. Length from tip of head to apices of folded forewings about 12.50 mm; maxillary palps each 2.25 mm long, segment II longer than III; labial palps each about 1 mmlong. Length of each forewing about 11 mm; venation typical for genus; cross-veins m-cuand cuseparated; Sc and R running independently to wing margin; Cu 2and A fusing at wing margin; hind wings each 8.50 mm long, broad; Sc and R meeting at cross-vein rbeforewing margin; fork I present; median cell open. Male genitalia( Figs. 1–5). Abdominal segment IX in lateral view convex anterolaterally, longitudinally long, apical lobe on posterolateral margin broad, rounded, setose, its posterior spine row continuous, anterior apodeme dividing segment IX into broad sternum and small dorsal tergum; in dorsal view anterior margin broadly concave, posteromedian keel broad, apically triangular, open distally, with pair of apicolateral lobes. Preanal appendages each long, narrow basally, broadest at mid-point, covered by setae, apically pointed, arising on elevated tubercle in lateral view. Depression between segments IX and X slightly indicated. Tergum X long, narrow, with rounded apex in lateral view; in dorsal view quadrate with pair of small rounded basolateral protuberances, apicoventral setose lobes digitiform, long, quadrate apically, dorsal interlobular gap deep, narrow, demarcated by apicoventral setose lobes laterally; apicodorsal setose lobes reduced to pair of small setose longitudinal areas between pair of basolateral protuberances. Inferior appendages each two-segmented, basal segment (coxopodite) long, slender, stout, apically broadened in lateral view; in ventral view curved mesad; apical segment (harpago) small, broad basally, tapering and hooked at apex in lateral view, quadrate in ventral view. Phallic apparatus with anterior opening (phallic foramen) ventral, anterior part of phallotheca horizontal and very broad, narrowing gradually before subapical ventral keel; phallotheca ending distally in regularly circular sclerous endothecal process; median rim thickened, incurving, with pair of small irregular phallotremal sclerites located in middle beneath sclerous endothecal process; endophallus ending anteriorly in narrow tube curving ventrad to apical gonopore; broadly rounded, half ovoid subapicoventral keel of phallotheca visible in lateral view.
Distribution. India: Uttarakhand, Meghalaya.
Etymology. This species is named for the digitate apicoventral setose lobes of tergum X.
