Host.Northern black snake Pseudechis australis(Gray)( Ophidia: Elapidae).
Distribution. Australia( Queensland).
Material studied.None.
Remarks. Johnston (1912)reported Proteocephalussp. from P. australisfrom Eidsvold, Burnett River, Queensland, stating it is not conspecific with P. gallardi(= A. gallardi), but assumed it is the identical species as that reported as Ichthyotaeniasp. by Johnston (1910)from Denisonia superba. However, the same author ( Johnston, 1913) assigned all tapeworms to P. gallardi(see also de Chambrier & de Chambrier, 2010). No voucher material is known to exist.
