This species is easily confused with some of those recognized herein. It can be recognized by close observation of the carinae of the hind femur, having a strong, straight, transverse carina distally, and a more basal, smaller carina abruptly extending dorsally to the group of peglike setae. The similar  D. oyapockensishas a rounded distal carina and a gradually ascending basal carina; even more similar are  D. gravisand  D. sinuicarina, which are also separated by the form of the hind femoral carinae. Description. Body length: 1.59–2.13 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 oval, brown. Palpus slightly enlarged, inflated, brown. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron brown. Mean costal length 0.52 wing length, range 0.51–0.53. Halter light brown. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowish-brown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, with ventral, dorsally curved, bare digitiform process ( Fig. 310). Posterior face of hind femur with peglike setae forming dorsal line and ventral group to short line; with small carina extending under ventral group and larger, transverse carina more distally ( Figs 95–96). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow. Distribution. Amazonian Braziland Colombia. Derivation of specific epithet.
