MeropliusRondani, 1874: 175. Gender: masculine. Type-species: Nemopoda stercorariaRobineau-Desvoidy, 1830[= Sepsis minutaWiedemann, 1830], by original designation. ParameropliusDuda, 1920: 37 (as Meropliussubgen.). Gender: masculine. Type species: Sepsis fasciculata Brunetti, 1910, by monotypy.
Diagnosis. Head with fronto-orbital, outer and inner vertical setae, also with 1vibrissa only (sometimes small). Antennal arista bare. Thorax without postmetacoxal bridge: posteroventral area of thorax posterior and dorsal to hind coxae (between metepimera) membranous. Fore coxa without an osmeterium. Mid coxa bare, without strong seta in dorsal 1/2. Male fore femur with 2 black spines posteriorly ( Figs 1, 2, 9, 10). Male hind tibia with an osmeterium anterodorsally. Wing with bmand brcells unfused, without black macula near apex of vein R2+3. Male abdominal sternite 4 modified ( Figs 3, 4, 11).
