Amphinemura malleicapitata Li & Yang View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Figs. 12–16 View FIGURES 12 – 16 )
Diagnosis
Epiproct divided into two clublike lateral processes swollen at tip and a swordshaped median process. Outer lobe of paraproct greatly reduced as dark maculation; median lobe basally broad and tapering toward sinuate apex with semicircular membranous area fringed with many black spines.
MALE. Forewing length 6.1–6.2 mm, hindwing length 5.2–5.3 mm.
Head and thorax brown; compound eyes dark; antennae yellowish brown. Thorax and mouthparts dark brown. Wings hyaline. Legs yellow. Abdomen brown with pale hairs.
Terminalia. ( Figs. 12–16 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ): Tergum nine weakly sclerotized and distinctly constricted medially, with a large, deep triangular anterior incision and narrow midposterior indention, two groups of tiny spines and hairs along posterior margin. Sternum nine with short vesicle; hypoproct wide at basal half, then distinctly tapering at middle to form a narrow, claviform distal portion. Tergum ten with anteriomedial margin projecting anterioriorly, slightly beyond the anteriomedial margin of tergum nine, with large posteriomedial incision, hind margin mostly sclerotized. Cerci slightly sclerotized, longer than wide. Epiproct divided into two darkly sclerotized, clublike lateral processes, swollen at tip, and a swordshaped, strongly sclerotized median process, fringed ventrally, with a row of tiny spines. Paraprocts trilobed: outer lobe distinctly sclerotized and greatly reduced, appearing as a dark spot; median lobe sclerotized basally, broad and tapering toward sinuate apex, with semicircular membranous area fringed with many black spines; inner lobe slender and sclerotized, much shorter than median lobe, with pointed tip.
FEMALE. Unknown.
Distribution
China (Guizhou).
Etymology
The compound Latin name of this species refers to the enlarged tip of the dorsal sclerite of the epiproct, which looks like the head of a hammer.
Remarks
The new species is similar to A. elongata , but may be separated from the latter by the epiproct with the lateral processes swollen at tip and the outer lobe of the paraproct greatly reduced as a dark, sclerotized spot. In elongata , the lateral processes of the epiproct are slender and gradually taper toward the tip and the outer lobe of the paraproct is not reduced (Li, Yang & Sivec, 2005).
