Type locality: Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Represa Rio Grande.
Holotype ♂ with labels: (1) printed on white paper: “Repr. [ Represa ] Rio Grande | Rio de Janeiro | Brasil ”; (2) printed with handwritten inscriptions on white paper: “ F.M. Oliveira | v-72 [1972]”; (3) printed on red paper: “HOLÓTIPO”; (4) printed on yellow paper: “ MNRJ ”.
Condition of type: good, with left antenna and wing slide–mounted and terminal part of abdomen with terminalia retained in a microvial with glycerin, both pinned below the specimen. Missing part: last four tarsomeres of right hind leg.
Additional note: this species was not listed in the supplement of world catalog of the Stratiomyidae (Woodley 2011) . Five and four males paratypes with the same locality data as the below paratypes specimens are deposited in the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) and Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZUSP), respectively.
