B. breviseta is closely related to B. ithyphylla View in CoL , and often was treated as its variety or subspecies. However, these two species are morphologically distinct enough, and considered as separate species ( Fransén 2004). In Europe this arctoalpine species is present in Iceland, Norway, Italy and Romania ( Hodgetts 2015). Italian record is more than 100 years old, and hasn’t been revised ever since ( Ros et al. 2013). In Serbia, due to the consideration within higher taxa, it hasn’t been included in the previous check-lists for the country ( Sabovljević et al. 2008, Ros et al. 2013, Hodgetts 2015). The only known report from the area is from Prokletije Mt. in Kosovo (Martinčič 2006), and this is where the only citation for the country comes from ( Pantović & Sabovljević 2017). Herbarium material is not available and new investigation on its presence and distribution in alpine area is needed.
