Range:— West Indies; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CH, CO, LP, SC), Paraguay, and Argentina.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid forests, especially along stream banks, on and among rocks, on damp earthen banks, and along trails; to 1500(–3200) m.
Notes:— Presumably hybridizes with Blechnum occidentale (which see), B. appendiculatum , and probably other species.
