Caucasocressa phasiana View in CoL , sp. n.
(figures 1, 2, 15)
Shell (figure 15). Indistinguishable from C. joannis .
Measurements. Seventeen km SE of Horasan (N =30): D= 10.5–13.5 mm, B = 12.1 mm; H= 6.1–8.2 mm, B = 7.3 mm; D/H=1.53–1.88, B =1.67.
Remarks. Caucasocressa phasiana differs from the related species in the ratio epiphallus: flagellum (see table 2), which is intermediate between C. joannis and C. tortumensis . Thus, the proportions of the genitalia are similar to those of Caucasocressa schmalzi . However, C. phasiana is smaller than the latter species and the umbilicus is distinctly narrower, occuping only about 10% of the shell breadth.
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the occurrence of the species in the land of the ancient tribe Phasiani ( phasiana used as an adjective).
Type locality. V. Erzurum: 17 km SE of Horasan, 0.5 km W of Dellal , rocks, KK62 .
Distribution and material (figure 2). Caucasocressa phasiana is known only from a small area SE of Horasan.
Turkey: V. Erzurum: 13 km SE of Horasan, N end of the Delibaba gorge, KK62 ( NBE) ; 17 km SE of Horasan, 0.5 km W of Dellal , rocks, KK62 (det. anat.; holotype NNM, leg. H. Menkhorst 18. August 1992, measurements: D= 12.8 mm, H=8.0 mm; MEN; ZMH 2901 View Materials ) .
