Celtis guineensis Schumacher & Thonning (1827: 160) View in CoL .
Type: — AFRICA. Gana, without date, fl., P. Thonning s.n. [C: First-step lectotype, designated by Wilmot-Dear in Bothalia 29(2): 241 (1999), as ‘isotype’. Second-step lectotype designated here, C barcode 10003510!; isolectotypes C barcode 10003506!, C barcode 10003507!, C barcode 10003508!, C barcode 10003509!, C barcode 10003510!, C barcode 10003511!, C barcode 10003512!] .
Nomenclatural notes: —When describing C. guineensis, Schumacher & Thonning (1827) did not cite the type. Wilmot-Dear (1999) performed an inadvertent lectotypification (first step of lectotypification) by indicating that the Thonning s.n. specimen is deposited in herbarium C. A year later, St-Laurent (2000: 409–410) designated this same specimen as a lectotype. By consulting the C herbarium database, we located seven specimens of Thonning s.n. Considering that St-Laurent (2000: 409–410) did not specify the specimen from C that should be recognized as a lectotype, we perform a second lectotypification step (ICN Art. 9.17) and designate the specimen at Herb. C with barcode 10003510 as lectotype (ICN Art. 9.3), because this specimen has more leaves and flowers compared to the other specimens of the C herbarium.
Taxonomic notes: —Synonym of Trema guineensis (Schumach. & Thonn.) Ficalho (1884: 259) ( Sattarian et al. 2006).
