Type: —AFRICA. “Loango, Tschintschocho, im Bergwald Nuzala” [currently Congo Republic], February 1876, fr., H. Soyaux 202 (lectotype K barcode 000442482!). Lectotype designated by Sattarian et al. (2006: 90) in Contribution to the biosystematics of Celtis L. ( Celtidaceae ) with special emphasis on the African species: Chapter 7, Revision of Africa Celtis .

Syntypes: —AFRICA. Angola, without date, F. Welwitsch 6284 (syntype not found); AFRICA. Angola, without date, F. Welwitsch 6285 (syntype P barcode 00253869!); AFRICA. Angola, without date, fl., F. Welwitsch 6298 (syntype P barcode 00253536!) .

Nomenclatural notes: —University theses are only considered effectively published for the purposes of botanical nomenclature under certain circumstances (ICN Art. 30.9). The thesis by Sattarian et al. (2006) is effectively published, because it includes an International Standard Book Number (ICN Art. 30, Note 3) and thus the lectotypification proposed therein for C. soyauxii is effective.
