Chrysops compactus View in CoL is Palearctic. This species was recorded from Turkey ( Erdoğmuş 2006). In the Middle Eastern Arab countries, it was found in Palestine and Iraq ( Leclercq 1960; Müller et al. 2012b). However, the occurrence of compactus View in CoL in Iraq is doubtful ( Theodor 1965).
