Distribution:— Northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and Malesia as far east as the Moluccas.

Coelogyne ustulata C.S.P.Parish & Rchb. f., Trans. Linn. Soc. London 30: 146, 1874. Type :— MYANMAR. Mon State : Mawlamyine District, Parish 174A (holotype: W-R; isotype: K; icon. W-R 13808 & 43809)

Homotypic synonym: Pleione ustulata (C.S.P.Parish & Rchb.f.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 680, 1891.

Heterotypic synonym:? Coelogyne tsii X.H.Jin & H.Li, Ann. Bot. Fenn. 43: 295, 2006.

Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Putao District: fide Aung et al. (2020: 73); Myitkyina District: 1830 m, 8 Apr 1938, Kermode 17199 ( K) . MANDALAY. Mandalay District: Swinhoe 38 ( K), ident. uncertain . MON. Mawlamyine District : type. Also reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 71), but we have not seen material from this area.

Distribution:— Myanmar and Thailand.

Notes:— The type specimen has only semi-mature flowers, thus the misleading figure in Seidenfaden (1975c: 78). The type as illustrated by Seidenfaden shows a flower with 6 mm long sepals and a short, broad retuse lip midlobe (sepals ca. 10 mm long are the minimum in mature flowers of this species). In mature flowers, the midlobe is more rectangular. Illustrated as C. tsii X.H.Jin & H.Li by Nyan Tun (2014: 130).
