Holotype M: Cecilio Baez , Caaguazu, Republic of Paraguay ( NMNH).
Distribution in South America: Brazil, Republic of Paraguay.
Bibliographic sources: Known life stages and relevant references in Pecor et al. (1992). The species was redescribed by Forattini & Sallum (1989b) and included in the Revision of the Spissipes Section by Sallum & Forattini (1996) with notes on bionomics. Later on Sallum et al. (2001) fully described the immature forms (larva, pupa). Some ecological notes can be found in Forattini et al. (1991; 1993b,c; 1995). Additional geographical records in Gomes et al. (1987); D’Avila (2011); Ribeiro et al. (2012).
