Holotype M (with associated larval and pupal exuviae): [Petit Saut], Sinnamary [River], French Guiana ( NE); coll. G. Senevet and E. Abonnenc; 24 Oct. 1937; no. G.899(5).
Culex implicatus was synonymized with Cx. nigrescens (Theobald) by Lane (1951: 334) and transferred to synonymy with Culex saramaccensis Bonne-Wepster & Bonne when the former was designated a nomen dubium by Sirivanakarn (1983: 274). The holotype, originally deposited in the LPFM, was established as non-extant by Belkin (1968: 53).
