Type Locality: Somalia, Upper Sheikh.
Vernacular Names: Somalian Dipodil.
Distribution: Somalia ( Lay, 1983) and Djibouti ( Pearch et al., 2001).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Gerbillus somalicus .
Discussion: Subgenus Petteromys . Included in D. campestris by F. Petter (1975 b) and Pavlinov et al. (1990), but treated by Lay (1983) as a distinct species pending taxonomic revision.
