Small shrubs, tomentose all over with dendritic or stellate hairs. Leaves alternate, sessile, entire, fleshy, the floral ones often clustered. Flowers solitary or in triads, bisexual; perianth 5-lobed; stamens 5; fruiting perianth woody and becoming embedded in the woody branch axis. Spines initially 5. Seeds and radicle erect; perisperm central. Two spp., endemic to Australia.
