status

Euastrum croasdaleae var. incrassatum Kurt Först. & F.Ecker (1964: 352) ( Figs 17–20 View FIGURES 2–27 )

Cell dimensions: length 22–25 μm, breadth 15–17 μm, isthmus 5–7 μm

Habitat characteristics: Ephemeral puddle in the mountain.

Material examined: HUEFS 244147.

Notes: This variety is distinguished by the presence of a thickening at the extremities of the lateral and apical lobes. It is a fairly rare taxon, which was also described for Bahia, although Förster (1964) did not specify in which municipality the sample was collected. In our specimens studied, we noticed that the apical incision is slightly shallower than the taxon illustrated by Förster (Tf. 3, fig. 12, pg. 443), while the other characteristics are in full agreement.
