Amblyseius (Amblyseius) prolixus Van der Merwe, 1968: 153 .
FEMALE (Specimens measured – South Africa: 3).
Dorsum – Dorsal shield, 309312 long and 208211 wide, with a few striae laterally and faintly reticulated posteriorly. Setae j1 35, j3 45, j4 25, j5 32, j6 32, J2 28, J5 6, z2 35 38, z4 5054, z5 1922, Z1 3032, Z4 3335, Z5 57, s4 6772, S2 3638, S4 3235, S5 32, r3 4144, R1 916. All dorsal setae are smooth, except Z5, which are serrated. Setae s4 are the longest setae.
Peritreme – Extending to level of setae j3.
Venter – All ventral shield are smooth. Distances between ST!ST3 55, ST2ST2 60, ST5ST5 5859. Two pairs of metapodal shields present. Ventrianal shield 9598 long, 47 50 wide at level of setae ZV2 and 5760 wide at anus level. Seta JV1 inserted on anterior margin of ventrianal shield.
Chelicera – Movable digit 2425 long, with 1 tooth and fixed digit 2425 long, with 6 teeth.
Spermatheca – Calyx tubular but slightly flaring distally; atrium incorporated in bulged part of calyx.
Legs – Macrosetae sharptipped: SgeIV 3841 and StIV 5054; chaetotaxy of genu II 22/0, 2/01, genu III 12/1,2/01.
