Fuminana retorta View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs 61 View FIGURES 61 –73, 82, 83)
Diagnosis. Pygofer (Fig. 67) apex subtriangular, tapered and rounded. Style (Fig. 71), apex curved dorsally and acute, inner margin serrated, with 4–5 denticles in posterior view. Aedeagus (Figs 72, 73) shaft straight in lateral view, with apical portion flattened laterally, twisted and slightly curved laterally in posterior view; with pair of short subapical processes.
Measurements. Total length: Holotype male: 12.6 mm. Paratypes: males (n = 4), 12.2–13.0 mm.
Coloration. Frons (Fig. 62) with black punctures only near crown-face transition. Other characteristics as in generic description.
Description. Prothoracic leg with filiform setae on ventral surface of femur and tibia. Other characteristics as in generic description.
Male terminalia. Sternite VIII (Fig. 65) 1.5x wider than long; posterior margin slightly emarginated medially. Valve (Fig. 66) 1.7x wider than long. Pygofer (Fig. 67) 1,9x longer than maximum height; ventral margin rounded; dorsal margin straight; apex subtriangular, tapered and rounded. Subgenital plate (Fig. 68), in ventral view, 5.2x longer than wide; lateral margins almost parallel; apex weakly narrowed and rounded. Connective (Fig. 69) slightly wider than long; stem length ca. 1/4 of basal width of connective. Style (Fig. 70), in dorsal view, with outer lobe weakly developed and rounded; in lateral view (Fig. 71), apophysis and outer lobe vertical; blade moderately broad, slightly broadened medially, dorsal margin straight, ventral margin rounded; apex curved dorsally and acute, inner margin serrated, with 4–5 denticles in posterior view. Aedeagus (Figs 72, 73) dorsal apodeme with laterodorsal angles weakly produced laterally; shaft long and thin, straight in lateral view, with apical portion flattened laterally, twisted and slightly curved laterally in posterior view; apex weakly sclerotized, with pair of subapical processes directed dorsally.
Female. Unknown.
Etymology. The new species name come from Latin and means twisted. It refers to the uncommon twisted shape of the aedeagus.
Material examined. Holotype male: “Ouro Preto\ d’Oeste, RO.\ 22.X.1987\ C. Elias, leg”, “Projeto Po\ lonoroeste” ( DZUP). Paratypes: 1 ♂, “ Brasil, Rondônia, Porto\ Velho, Rio Madeira \ 09°35′29″S 65°02′57″W \ Malaise 28.III–8.IV.2011\ Silva & Albuquerque ” ( DZUP); GoogleMaps 1 ♂, “ Brasil, Rondônia, Porto\ Velho, Rio Madeira \ 09°35′29″S 65°02′57″W \ Malaise 18–29.VI.2011\ Albuquerque & Ferreira ” ( DZUP); GoogleMaps 2♂ mesmos dados exceto 04–18.IX.2012 MA Ullysséa & LP Prado ” ( MZSP); 1 ♂, “ Brasil —RO \ Ji-Paraná \ 20 a 23 \ XI-1984”, “Brasil, Rondônia \ R. B. Neto ”, “ MPEG 05028042 View Materials ” ( MPEG).
Remarks. Fuminana retorta sp. nov. can be distinguished from the remaining species of the genus because it is the only species with the apical portion of the aedeagus twisted (Figs 72, 73).
