Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 1 specimen MHNG INVE 51717 (ex MHNG 1098/19 ), 60.6 mm . 1 specimen MHNG INVE 51718 (ex MHNG 1098/20 ) , 133 mm. Locality on both labels: Groenland.

Current taxonomic position: Neptunea despecta ( Linnaeus, 1758) ; placed in synonymy with Neptunea despecta [ Buccinidae ] by A. Adams (1864): 107. Locality is Japan. Lamarck (1822) recognized the priority of Pennant’s name.
