Description. ♀. Apterous; body length 2.1–2.2 mm. Head brown-black, except mandible, clypeus and region of frons along orbits yellow; antenna brown, except scape yellow; mesosoma and metasoma black; legs testaceous, except clubs of femora and meso- and metacoxa brown; occasionally extremities of meso- and metatibia brown. In specimen from Democratic Republic of the Congo, 04°19’S 17°08’E, head totally testaceous; antenna brown, except scape and pedicel testaceous; mesosoma black; metasoma brown; legs testaceous. Head excavated, shiny, bare, unsculptured; frontal line complete; occipital carina incomplete, only shortly present on sides of lateral ocelli; POL = 2.5; OL = 2.5; OOL = 14. Palpal formula 4/2. Pronotum shiny, setose, unsculptured, not crossed by transverse impression or very slightly impressed. Mesoscutum shiny, with some longitudinal keels. Metapectal-propodeal disc shiny, unsculptured; propodeal declivity, meso- and metapleuron slightly transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture obsolete. Protarsomere 1 slightly longer than 4 (8:7). Enlarged claw ( Fig. 201B View FIGURE 201 ) with one small subapical tooth and 4–5 lamellae or peg-like setae. Protarsomere 5 ( Fig. 201B View FIGURE 201 ) with one row of 18–21 lamellae; apex with 5–11 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Material examined. Types: ♀ holotype: SOUTH AFRICA: KwaZulu-Natal, Drakensberg, Van Reenen, 1– 22.I.1927 ( NHMUK) . Paratype: same locality label as holotype, XI.1926, 1 ♀ ( NHMUK). Other material: DEMO- CRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO: Haut-Uele, Wamba Territory, Yelingi Grassland, 5 km E Kikongo Mission, 04°19’S 17°08’E, 8.IV.2006, sweeping grass, S.L. Heydon & S.E. Stevenson leg., 1♀ (DEUCD). SOUTH AF- RICA: Free State, Sasolburg, Roadside verges, Wonderfontein Road, 26°47.20’S 27°47.33’E, 1450 m, 23.XI.1999, D-Vac, IS 22, seeded mainly with Eragrostis tef., M. Stiller leg., 1♀ (SANC).
