This species was described only from Palestine, depending on a single specimen collected on a donkey ( Austen 1924). Both Austen (1924) and Theodor (1965) treated this species as Tabanus cuspidatus . This species shows resemblance to Hybomitra acuminata (Loew, 1858) ( Austen 1924) .
