This species originally was described as Tabanus glaber . However, Abbassian-Lintzen (1964) found that T. glaber strongly fitted the characteristics of the genus Hybomitra . This species was collected from Afghanistan, Chinese Turkestan, and Iran ( Abbassian-Lintzen 1964). Hybomitra glaber was collected from Iraq ( Abbassian-Lintzen 1964). It is autumn-species and known as a vector of Trypanosoma evansi ( Abbassian-Lintzen 1964) .
