Remarks. Willemse (1994) reports a possible L. cucullata from Zambia; it differs from the characters listed by Dirsh (1958) in a smaller size, and differences in the width of the basal part of antenna relative to the diameter of the eye and the shallow excision at the basal sulcus of the pronotum. The adults examined in the present study (46 specimens) have indeed a very variable size, only few reach the measures reported by Dirsh (1958) (♂: body length 60-63; pronotum length 18-19; ♀: body length 77-86; pronotum length 16.5-18.0 mm), many of them agreeing with the measures reported by Willemse (1994) (♂: body length 46-53; pronotum length 14-16; ♀: body length 56-68; pronotum length 15.0-17.0 mm). The basal part of the antenna is variable too. The key to Lamarckiana species by Dirsh (1958) is based also on the size and does not allow a certain identification.
The distribution of L. cucullata includes, other than the previously known countries South Africa and Namibia, also Mozambique (present data) and Zambia (possible records by Willemse 1994).
