Distribution and habitat: — Brazil (Minas Gerais, in the Diamantina Plateau and the Serra do Cipó). Campo rupestre; 990–1500 m.
Taxonomic Notes: —Distinctive characters are the parallelodromous leaves, glabrous leaf sheath and capitulum with 7–12 florets. There are three sheets of L. Riedel 1126 (type of L. saxosa ) at LE; however there is no need of lectotypification because only the holotype bears a label written by H. Krascheninnikov with the name Lychnophora saxosa ; the other two sheets also have a label of H. Krascheninnikov too but with the name Lychnophora sellowii .
