Description. Length of male 3.06–3.50mm. Crown yellow, anterior margin bluntly rounded, vertex with a big black spot ( Figs 4C, 4D View FIGURE 4 ). Pronotum yellow, scutum and scutellum yellow with a big black spot medially ( Figs 4A, 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Forewing transparent with appendix extending around wing apex to 2nd apical cell ( Fig. 4E View FIGURE 4 ). Hind wing transparent with submarginal vein confluent with vein RP ( Fig. 4F View FIGURE 4 ).
Abdominal apodeme reaching to 3rd sternite ( Fig. 4G View FIGURE 4 ). Male pygofer side with dorsal angle covered with small teeth, ventral process sharp, dorsal, posterior and ventral margin concave, posterior margin with thin setae, disc with long setae near ventral margin ( Fig. 4I View FIGURE 4 ). Subgenital plate exceeding posterior margin of pygofer ( Fig. 4H View FIGURE 4 ), with small teeth and row of thick macrosetae medially, numerous thin long setae on lateral apical half ( Fig. 4J View FIGURE 4 ). Paramere short, hooked apically, expanded medially ( Fig. 4K View FIGURE 4 ). Connective V-shaped ( Fig. 4L View FIGURE 4 ). Aedeagus with preatrium well-developed, membranous dorsal apodeme very weak; shaft basally thickened; gonopore apical ( Figs 4M, 4N View FIGURE 4 ).
Material examined. Holotype. ♂, China, Fujian Province, Wuyi Mountain, Big Sample Plot , 23-VI-2021, coll. Juan Zhou, Ruiling Chen. Paratypes. 3♂, same data as holotype .
Etymology. The species name comes from the combination of Latin words “stell- (star)” and “cauda (tail)”, referring to the 4-pointed star shaped pygofer side.
Note. The new species is similar to Sobrala quadrilatera Kang & Zhang, 2015 in body size and color pattern, but it can be differed from the latter by the hind wing with submarginal vein confluent with vein RP.
