Redescription of Notholca dongtingensis Zhuge et al. 1998
The original description of Notholca dongtingensis mentions its more or less rectangular lorica shape, relatively short antero-dorsal spines and outwardly curved antero-lateral spines as diagnostic features, which permitted us to identify our material as belonging to this particular species. On the other hand, the presence of weak granular ornamentations on the inner margin of the midventral anterior sinus is confirmed, but it is refuted as diagnostic for the species as these spinulets are present in most Notholca species (e.g., see Sørensen 1998). Zhuge et al. (1998) do not mention elongated antero-lateral spines, and their description of the trophi lacks detail.
