Type:— TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Trinidad: [The Royal Chartered Borough of Arima:] Arima, s.d., W. E. Broadway D (not found). Neotype (designated here): TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Aripo , 21 May 1985, J. S. Kenny s.n. ( TRIN 29450 About TRIN !).
Notes: —Cogniaux (1910) described N. apiculata based on a sample collected by W. E. Broadway near Arima, but did not indicate where it was deposited. It is believed that the material has been lost or was not preserved, so a neotype is needed. The sample collected in the type locality and deposited in the TRIN herbarium is designated as a neotype.
