Paduniella dongdata , new species

Figs 7–9 View FIGURES 7 – 9

Paduniella dongdata , new species has a unique phallic apparatus, involving a slender, tube-shaped phallicata being straight along the basal 2/3rds before bending strongly ventrally; the paramere of same shape as phallicata except larger; and the rather thick, tuboid median process. The shape of sternite IX and inferior appendages resembles those in P. n i k e Malicky from Nepal, from which P. dongdata is separated by the shape of the phallic apparatus and longer superior appendages. The tergite and superior appendages, and partly the shape of the inferior appendages resemble those of P. wangtakraiensis Malicky & Chantaramongkol from Thailand and P. nama , new species from Vietnam, but the shape of the phallicata and paramere is very different in P. dongdata .

Male genitalia. Sternite IX club-shaped in lateral view ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ); wide ventral part with nearly straight anterior and posterior margins, narrowing at mid-height; dorsal part of sternite IX nearly parallel-sided, straight, shorter than thick ventral part, orienting anterodorsally; joining tergite IX dorsally of mid-height of genitalia. Narrow dorsal part of sternite IX forming wide angle with ventral part of sternite IX. Sclerotized part of tergite IX short, pointing posterodorsally, narrowing into rounded apex in lateral view ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). Superior appendages large, completely fused with tergite IX, membranous; basal part narrow; distal part with slightly convex dorsal margin with few setae; apicoventral margin irregular in lateral view ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). Median branch of inferior appendages partly visible immediately above main branch in lateral view ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ), with stout dorsal setae; in ventral view ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ) forming long, narrow mesal lobes with slightly convex mesal margins and straight lateral margins; about half as wide as main branch of inferior appendages; originating basally of mid-length of main branch ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ); setae present in mesal row. Ventral lobe of inferior appendages absent. Main branch of inferior appendages with parallel-sided, undulating dorsal and ventral margins in lateral view; distally narrowing into rounded apex ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ); slightly curving dorsad before apex; apex not bifurcated. Phallic apparatus connected to sternite IX and tergite IX by long, slender, bow-shaped sternal strip ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). Phallobase irregular, with convex ventral margin and nearly rectangular anterior plate. Median process long, bow-shaped, with nearly straight mid-section ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). Phallicata with small ventral triangular projection at basis; running straight posteriorly before bending ventrad at about 2/3rds it length; narrow along its length. Paramere with dorsal, rounded process at basis; running posteriorly above and exceeding phallicata posteriorly; curving ventrad at posterior three quarters its length, apically twisted; about equally wide along its length ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ).
