Philoliche magrettii View in CoL is one of the horseflies with long tongue ( Al-Dhafer et al. 2009). It was recorded from Afrotropical regions; Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, and Tanzania ( Ježek 2017). In the Arab countries of the Middle East, the species was recorded from Saudi Arabia ( Amoudi 1989). In Somalia and Sudan, magretti had been incriminated as a major vector of Camel trypanosomiasis ( Dirie et al. 1989; Rahman 2005).
