Material examined: none.
Remarks. There are two recognized subspecies, including the nominal one ( Beinhundner 2017b). The species Phonotaenia hassoni ( Antoine & Legrand, 2005) mimics Phonotaenia scalaris scalaris Gory & Percheron, 1833 for which can be mistaken ( Antoine & Legrand 2005).
