* Cerithium novorossicum n. sp. — Sinzov 1897: 66, pl. 3, figs 19–20.

Type material. Lectotype designated herein: PIN 5861 View Materials /1, Novobogdanivka, Mykolaiv Region, Ukraine, SL: 28.0 mm, MD: 9.9 mm, illustrated in Sinzow (1897: pl. 3, fig. 19. Paralectotype PIN 5861 View Materials /2, Kerch , Crimea, SL: 11.0 mm, MD: 5.2 mm, illustrated in Sinzow (1897: pl. 3, fig. 20). All types stored in Borissiak Paleontological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciense, Moscow.

Type locality. Novobogdanivka ( Ukraine) .

Stratigraphy. Late Miocene, early Maeotian.

Discussion. This species is based on stout specimens of Potamides taitboutii , partly with only two spiral cords. Already Iljina et al. (1976: 91) considered both species to be synonyms.

Eastern Paratethys. Early Maeotian (Late Miocene): Black Sea Lowland : Novobogdanivka (Mykolaiv Region); Yagorlyts'kyi Kut peninsula (= former Svobodnyi Port) (Kherson Region, Ukraine) ( Barg 1966); Transcaucasia: Gedzhiri River (Abkhazia) ( Badzoshvili 1979).
