Black and red leafhoppers. Crown yellow, one large black spot on anterior 0.66, one marginal triangular spot laterad of ocelli, black. Face with median round spot dorsally continued as line along median carina, one elongate lateral spot on either side of frontoclypeus and apex of clypellus, black. Anterior marginal transverse band on pronotum shining black, continued laterally as thin line. Forewing red with costal margin, inner claval margin and stripe along middle of corium and apical cells, appendix, black. Legs yellow, hind tibiae dark brown with paler setae. Fore tibiae fuscous, all claws dark brown, metatarsi ventrally dark brown.

Frontoclypeus with ridge-like transverse muscle impressions on either side of median carina. Pronotum transversely finely rugose punctate.

Male genitalia. Pygofer about as long as height, without ventral process, gradually narrowed caudally, ventral margin oblique and convex. Subgenital plate with inner marginal long macrosetae in addition to dorsal long hairlike setae. Style with well developed heel and toe short and stout, strongly rugose. Aedeagus with well developed extension of atrium, dorsolateral lobe large, pigmented, dorsal connective plate-like, shaft long, slender, curved anteriorly, ventral marginal angular projection absent; gonopore subapical on ventral margin; in posteroventral view ventral extension of atrium appears compressed and together with dorsolateral lobes and shaft looks like a trident. Segment X reaching apex of pygofer, broader proximally than distally.

Measurements. Male 7.1 mm long, head 1.6 mm wide across eyes and 1.7–1.8 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Material examined. MYANMAR: Holotype ♂, NE Burma: Kambaiti, 2000m, 28.v.1934, Malaise ( Riksmuseum , Stockholm) . Paratypes 5 ♂, data as in holotype but collected at 7000ft (2330 m), 25/ 27.iv.1934, R. Malaise ; 2 ♂, same data as holotype but collected on 28.iv.1934 , 1♂, same data but collected on 3–7.v.1934 ( Riksmuseum , Stockholm) .

Remarks. S. rubrostriata sp. nov. externally resembles S. leishanensis Li & Li in coloration and keys to that species in Li & Li's (2014) key. It can be differentiated by the absence of well defined black round spots on the face and by the more acutely pointed posterior lobe of the male pygofer ( Fig. 40 A View FIGURES40 ) compared to the conically rounded posterior lobe of the pygofer in the latter species ( Li & Li 2014, fig. 29).
