Remarks.

According to the original description, Alycaeus kurauensis differs from Stomacosmethis kapayanensis in "having a wider ultimate whorl, thicker operculum with smooth exterior and more widely spaced radial ribs." These traits, in our opinion, are sufficient for distinction on subspecific level, but do not justify the distinctness at the species level. Therefore, this taxon is handled as a subspecies of S. kapayanensis .
