Type specimen. Holotype: Male, West (“ South-West ”) Madagascar, Lambomakandro , alt. 500 m, Tuléar [i.e., Toliara province; N.-E. of Sakaraha], 16 vii [19]57, leg. P. Griveaud; gen. slide no. CIS-7373 (in MNHN).

Diagnosis. In forewing pattern, the new species is similar to T. perrierella ( Viette, 1985) , whose description was based on a single female collected from the northern area of Madagascar. Nevertheless, it can be distinguished from the latter by its smaller size ( T. perrierella having a wingspan of 26–27 mm), the absence of the antemedian band (which is weakly indicated, oblique, in T. perrierella ), the more convex postmedian band (medially), and the hind wing ground color, which is pale grayish.

Description. Male ( Figs. 5A–C View FIGURE 5 ). Wingspan, 20.0 mm. Head: shiny, pale orange, with appressed scales dorsally. Antenna (broken in distal half); scape elongated, yellowish brown dorsally, pale yellowish laterally; flagellum pale yellowish, without annulations. 2 nd segment of labial palpus long, thickened, slightly arched ventrally, grayish brown on both sides; 3 rd segment as long as 2 nd segment (same color as 2 nd segment). Thorax: tegula and thorax yellowish brown dorsally. Forewing ground color yellowish brown; antemedian fascia weakly developed, near quadrate, below upper margin of cell; postmedian band narrow, yellowish white, serrated, convex medially; discal stigmata well indicated at middle and near end of discal cell; costa slightly arched around basal 1/3 and beyond 3/4; apex slightly produced; termen slightly concave before middle; venation with M 2 remote from M 3 at base; CA 1 and CuA 2 stalked for basal 2/5. Hind wing venation complete; base of M 2 remote from M 3 +CuA 1; M 3 and CuA 1 stalked for basal 1/4. Abdomen ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ): spinose zones broadly developed; tergum VIII slightly concave medially.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 5D, E View FIGURE 5 ): Uncus broadly elongated, with truncated caudal margin, reaching caudal margin of basal plate of gnathos. Basal plate of gnathos quadrate; median process narrowed from nearly half and gently bent downwards. Tegumen weakly sclerotized. Valva broad at base; costa gently oblique from near base; cucullus nearly parallel-sided, slightly dilated distally, densely setose; sacculus broad, weakly sclerotized. Juxta rather long, jar-shaped, with small, fork-shaped latero-caudal processes. Aedeagus more or less slender, as wide as cucullus; dorsal margin terminated into a sclerotized spine; cornuti consisting of several lines of minute spinules.

Female unknown.

Distribution. Madagascar (western region).

Etymology. The species name is derived from the province of Toliara (in which the type locality is situated).
