Diagnosis. Females of Trochanteria gomezi differ from other species by the very short lateral epigynal margins (see Platnick 1986, fig. 14). Males of other Trochanteria species are unknown, but it can be recognized by the presence of proximal projection of the base of the retangular embolus and elongated and conical tegular projection, distally in the tegulum in the male palp ( Fig. 4C–E View FIGURE 4 ; Platnick 1986, figs. 16–17).
Description. Male and female described by Platnick (1986). We include: male with chelicerae with one retromarginal teeth ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ); cymbium with rounded and smooth tarsal organ ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ); palp in detail showing flattened embolar base, acute embolar base with proximal projection, conical and apical tegular projection, curved and short median apophysis and acute retrolateral tibial apophysis with enlarged base ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C−F). Female: chelicerae with two teeth spaced at the promargin ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A−B), pedipalp claw with one teeth ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ), epigynum with narrow atrium, subtriangular epigynal median field and halfmoon epigynal lateral field ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ).
Natural History. All the specimens used for cytogenetic studies were found hidden in crevices of the tree bark of Curatella americana Linnaeus , during the day, and collected afterremoving parts of the tree bark (Fig. 6).

Distribution. Northwestern Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil ( Fig 7 View FIGURE 7 ).
