Agrilus nalandae Théry View in CoL

( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 6 , 34 View FIGURES 34 – 49 )

nalandae Théry, 1904: 162 View in CoL –163. Obenberger, 1936: 1093.

Diagnosis. This species resembles species related to A. livens Kerremans, 1892 by the color and elytral patterns, but it differs from them by the large eyes, presence of prehumerus, the markedly attenuate elytral apices and by the robust prosternal lobe and prosternal process. Agrilus nalandae is similar to A. aurosus by the body shape, elytral pubescence, and incised prosternal lobe, although it differs from it by the characters given in the key.

Length. 4.9 mm.

Type series. Agrilus nalandae Théry, 1904 . Holotype by monotypy Ƥ, MNHN: “ Nalanda Ceylan Horn [h] \ Type [p][red ink] \ Agrilus Nalandae [h] Type [p][red ink] Thery [h] \ Muséum Paris Coll. Générale [p] [yellow label]”. Described from a single specimen. Type locality. Ceylan, Nalanda.

Specimens examined. Known only from the holotype.

Distribution. Sri Lanka.

Remarks. Male unknown.

aurosus Descarpentries & Villiers, 1963: 105 View in CoL , 110.

Diagnosis. This species belongs to the group of species having a slender body, larger head and narrow elytral apices ( A. nalandae , A. rolciki , A. cuneatus ). It is similar to A. nalandae by the elytral patterns and to A. ventrituber by having tubercles on the basal abdominal ventrite in males.

Length. 5.0– 7.2 mm.

Variability. Elytra bichromatic, with black ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ) or bronze ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ) background blended with goldengreen or golden-violet patterns. Elytral pubescence monochromatic gold, or a bichromatic combination of gold and white. The basal part of body with the pubescence often caducous.

Type series. Agrilus aurosus Descarpentries & Villiers, 1963 . Holotype: 3, MNHN: “ Muséum Paris Tonkin Région De Hoa Binh A. De Cooman 1927 [p] \ Agrilus aurosus n. sp. Holotype 3 nob. A. Descarpentries et [h] A. Villiers det. 19 [p] 62 [h] \ Muséum Paris Coll. générale [p] [yellow label]”. Paratypes: 8 exs MNHN, 1 ex ISNB, 1 ex MHNG, 1 ex NMPC. The exact number of paratypes was not specified. Type locality. Tonkin: Hoa Binh.
