( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 E)

Diagnosis. The prothorax in this species resembles that in A. darlingtoni in the distinctive pronotal punctation with more clearly defined and sparse punctures and distinctly granulate interspaces, but it differs in being somewhat smaller with less strongly rounded pronotal sides, which are not explanate and have more coarsely crenulate edges.

Description. Length 4.3 mm; body elongate (BL/EW = 2.14). Head black posteriorly, yellowish-brown anteriorly; antennal funicle yellow, club brown; pronotum and scutellar shield reddish-brown; elytra reddish-brown with suture, sides and posterior third yellow; undersurfaces mostly reddish-brown; legs primarily yellowish brown, but tarsi and pretarsi dark brown. Dorsal vestiture of very short fine setae, most of which barely extend beyond edges of punctures; ventral surfaces and legs clothed with longer, decumbent and suberect setae. Head punctation moderately fine and dense. Pronotum 0.71 times as long as wide; sides distinctly curved, not explanate, edges of lateral carinae crenulate; anterior angles very weakly produced and rounded; posterior angles broadly rounded. Pronotal punctation very fine and sparse, the punctures with steep sides, but spacing irregular; interspaces distinctly granulate with dull sheen. Elytra 1.53 times as long as wide and 2.50 times as long as pronotum, widest at posterior third; sides weakly rounded and explanate; punctation coarse and dense, interspaces more or less smooth and shiny. Male abdomen with transverse setal rows on ventrites 3–5. Aedeagus 0.62 times as long as abdominal ventrites 1–5; tegmen with fused parameres 7.9 times as long as wide; parameres 0.53 times as long as body of tegmen including paired dorsal struts; ventral strut 0.94 times as long as body of tegmen; penis 1.05 times as long as tegmen including parameres and 9.2 times as long as wide.

Type specimen. Holotype, male, Puerto Rico: Mt. Allegrillo [near Maricao], 27.vii.1914, R.H. Van Zuwalenburg, Fed. Exp. ( AMNH).
