Type locality.
Fortaleza, state of Ceará, Brazil.
Distribution.
In the Caatinga it is registered in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sergipe. It is widespread in the Caatinga and occurs along all ecoregions (Table 1 View Table 1 ; Appendix S3). Distributed in low to high elevation areas (5-1,085 m a.s.l.), with annual mean temperature 20 to 28°C, and average annual rainfall between 450 and 1,413 mm.
Ecological notes.
Terrestrial and diurnal (Vanzolini et al. 1980). It inhabits open landscapes in herbaceous caatinga vegetation (Vanzolini et al. 1980). Diet based mainly on arthropods, being Orthoptera , insect larvae, Homoptera and Isoptera the most representative items ( Mesquita et al. 2006; Ferreira et al. 2017). Viviparous, the female usually with clutch of 1-6 embryos ( Vitt and Blackburn 1983).
