The name refers to Dr Brian Brown who has done much to advance our knowledge of Phoridae .

Male. Postpedicel longer than its greatest breadth. Left and right sides of epandrium as Figs 24 and 25 View FIGURES 24– 26 . Left gonopod vestigial but right is long and sinuous ( Figs 25 and 26 View FIGURES 24– 26 ). Left lobe of hypandrium long and greyish brown, the right lobe shorter and darker ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 24– 26 ). Wing 1.2–1.3 mm long. Costal index 0.59–0.60. Vein 3 with a terminal vesicle which extends beyond tip of costa. All tibiae are brown.

Material. Holotype male, Costa Rica, Puntarenas, Las Cruces , 8.80 o N, 82.97 o W, 1200 m, Malaise trap, 7–17 November 2005, G. Kung & A. Kreuter ( CUMZ, 26-78) GoogleMaps . Paratypes, 7 males, as holotype except 4 ( CUMZ, LACM, 26-79-81)
