Chionaema quadripartita Wilemаn, 1910 , The Entomologist 43: 177 (Type locаlity: “Kаnshirei (1000 ft.)”).

= Chionaema kosemponica Strаnd, 1917 , Archiv für Naturgeschichte 82 A (3): 116. TL: [ Tаiwаn: Kаoshiung city, Chiаsien] “ Formosа... Kosempo”).

Type material examined. Syntypes: ♂ ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17–24 ), “ ♂, Kanshirei , Formosa. 1000 ft. 21.VII.1908, A.E. Wileman ” / “ Chionaema quadripartita sp. n. Type ♂ Lith 47” / “759 F” / Wileman Coll. B.M. 1929-261” / round label with red circle “ Type ” / label with QR-code “ NHMUK010402079 View Materials ” (Coll. NHMUK) ; ♀, “ ♀, Kanshirei , Formosa. 1000 ft. 1.V.1907, A.E. Wileman ” / “ Chionaema quadripartita sp. n. Type ♀ ” / “759” / Wileman Coll. B.M. 1929-261” / round label with red circle “ Type ” / label with QR-code “ NHMUK010402080 View Materials ” (Coll. NHMUK) .

Other material examined: TAIWAN: ♂, Kanshirei, Formosa. 1000 ft. 5.VII.1908, A.E. Wileman / Chionaema quadripartita Wileman , det. A. Watson, 1962 / Paratype / slide AV1870 ♂ Volynkin (Coll. ZFMK) ; 1 ♂, 1 ♀, Taimali , Taitung Co., Taiwan, 21.III.2013, Y.C. Lin [leg.] (Coll. TFRI) ; 1 ♂, Fushan Botanic Garden , Ilan Co., Taiwan, 30.V.2011, S. Wu & W.C. Chang [leg.], slide S. Wu (Coll. TFRI) ; 1 ♀, Lienhuachin , Nantou Co., Taiwan, 10.VIII.2010, C.C. Kuo [leg.], LHC-20100810-142, slide S. Wu (Coll. TFRI) .

Remark. In the original description, Wileman (1910) cited two specimens: male and female, both the syntypes are deposited in the NHMUK collection. The topotype male specimen from the ZFMK collection ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 17–24 ) labeled as ‘paratype’ is not a syntype in fact.

Diagnosis. Forewing length is 17–18 mm in males and 19–20 mm in females. The nominate populations of Cyana quadripartita ( Figs. 17–20 View FIGURES 17–24 ) can be distinguished from the related species ( Figs. 1–16 View FIGURES 1–8 View FIGURES 9–16 ) by the slightly narrower red transverse lines of forewings. The male genitalia of C. quadripartita ( Figs. 34–36 View FIGURES 34–36 ) differ from those of other species of the species-group ( Figs. 25–33 View FIGURES 25–27 View FIGURES 28–30 View FIGURES 31–33 ) in the broader distal section of the valve, the much larger medial dorsal diverticulum, the shorter distal diverticulum covered with much smaller spike-like cornuti, the much smaller medial posterior diverticulum having granulation and the short subdiverticulum densely covered with spinules, the structure of the medial anterior diverticulum, which is long and narrow and densely covered with spinules. The female genitalia of C. quadripartita ( Fig. 43, 44 View FIGURES 43–44 ) differ from those of other species of the species-group ( Figs. 37– 41 View FIGURES 37–42 ) in the more heavily sclerotized antrum, the smaller and weakly sclerotized posterior plate of the corpus bursae, the absence of the medial-lateral sclerotized band of the corpus bursae, and the longer appendix bursae with the broader ductus seminalis.

Distribution ( Fig. 46 View FIGURE 46 ). Endemic of Taiwan.
