( Figs. 21 View FIGURES 19 – 21 , 39 View FIGURES 28 – 47 )

Epipleoneura waiwaiana Machado 1985: 700 View in CoL –701, figs. 8–10 (new species, male description, illustrations of S 10 in posterior and lateral view and epiproct, type material at ABMM). De Marmels 1989: 23 (new record for Venezuela). Lencioni 2005: 184, figs. 114 a–b (references, type locality, distribution, described stages, illustrations of male S 10 in lateral view and epiproct in posterior view). Garrison et al. 2010: 352, 355, fig. 2355 (included in list of species). Pessacq et al. 2012: 5 (included in list of Brazilian Protoneuridae View in CoL ).

Specimens examined. Holotype ♂, Brazil. Pará State, Aldeia Mapuera (00º341’50”S, 57º28’24”W), leg. A.B.M. Machado & Kaori, 19 vi 1982.

Diagnosis. From its original description, the male cercus with an inner-basal branch, dorsal branch rounded in section, almost parallel to main body axis and without apical hook seems to be similar to that of E. tariana (see under E. tariana ), but the epiproct with two short branches widely separated at their bases clearly differentiates both species and is unique for this species. The genital ligula resembles those of E. humeralis , E. janirae , and E. tariana , and it is described under the first species. In E. waiwaiana the apical lobes are narrower than in E. humeralis . Female unknown.

Distribution. Northern Brazil in Pará State, Aldeia Mapuera (type locality Aldeia Mapuera, 02º13’60”S, 56º43’00”W), Southern Venezuela, Río Baría, Amazonas State.

Notes. Unfortunately the cerci of the type are lost.
