Falsocaenia irregularis Pic, 1931: 94 .

Type material. Syntype, male, ‘ Bolivia’, without other data ( MNHN).

Other material. Bolivia: Yungas, Germain , 2 spec. ( ZMPA).

Diagnosis. Close to F. meridanum , differs in body coloration having whole maxillary and labial palpi dark brown, lateral margins and posterior angles of pronotum yellow, elytra possessing only 2 transverse dark spots medially, and in the shape of phallus with large sinus in distal 1/3 of phallus, parameres reaching over phallic constriction.

Redescription. Body largely dark brown, only lateral pronotal margins, posterior angles of pronotum, and most of elytra yellow (except 2 symmetrical median spots, 3/5 of suture and apical 1/6 of elytra black to dark brown ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ). Eyes medium-sized, distance between eyes 1.5x longer than maximal eye diameter. Pronotum slender ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 16 – 30 ), 1.6x wider at base than long, anterior angles conspicuous, posterior angles strongly produced laterally. Elytra 3.8x longer than humeral width, strongly widened to posterior third. Male genitalia ( Fig. 45–47 View FIGURES 42 – 53 ) with large sinus in distal 1/3 of phallus, distal enlargement broad, almost circular. Body length: 7.8 mm, humeral width: 1.8 mm.

Remark. This syntype is from Bolivia as F. irregularis var. germaini , while the specimen from Peru was not found in MNHN. Both antennae of the syntype missing.
