Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR98, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: East Africa east to Australia and Vanuatu, north to Ryukyu Islands. Found in aggregations in sheltered, silty coastal reefs, 0–12 m depth. Marine.
