Described from Hainan Island and is so far only known from the type specimens which were examined :

Material examined: Holotype ♂ card mounted: “ China, Hainan, Ledong / Jianfengling 900m / 2004 VII 21, Wu Jie / Ent.Mus.CAU Beijing ”, paratypes collected with holotype: 1♀ ( CAU), 1♂ ( CEHI). The left paramerees of the ♂ paratype is of subtriangular shape and is figured (figs. 14–17).

Heterobarcinus kormilevi differs from bhoutanensis and the new species described below by the shape of the anterolateral lobe of pronotum, which is wider than the corium (fig. 6).
