Distribution: Despite its specific name, this is probably a species of African origin ( Wood 1977), which has been introduced to the Oriental region (including Taiwan), and to Central and South America. [6]

Hosts: Polyphagous, breeding in a variety of angiosperm trees and lianes ( Wood & Bright 1992). Recorded from bamboo originating from Taiwan by Browne (1980a).

Biology: It breeds primarily in twigs and small branches, often making its gallery in the pith of twigs ( Browne 1961).
