Length male. 7.70 mm., female unknown.

External morphology. Moderate size, robust species. General color concolorous dark brown to black; crown with T-shaped yellow marking medially; eyes translucent, outlined with yellow ( Plate 1I View PLATE 1 ); face black with narrow, yellow band on anterior border of clypeus. Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin broadly angulate; crown broad, about as wide as width of eyes, produced distally about ¼ of entire length, lateral margins nearly parallel, disk sculptured; eyes large, elongate ovoid; pronotum slightly longer than crown, surface bullated; mesonotum large, about 1/3 times longer than pronotum; forewings long, broad, 3 anteapical cells present, outer one closed; clypeus long, broad, lateral margins convex, distinct median longitudinal carina; clypellus short, about half as long clypeus, narrow basally, flared distally.

Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view with 2 prominent caudal processes ( Fig. 64 View FIGURES 64–70 ); right subgenital plate long, broad, pilose over entire surface ( Fig. 65 View FIGURES 64–70 ); style long, about as long as aedeagus, expanded in apical 1/5, small flange subapically on lateral margin ( Figs. 66, 67 View FIGURES 64–70 ); aedeagus long, shaft constricted near middle in dorsal view, shaft very broad subbasally to subapically, gonopore submedial on ventral margin ( Figs. 68, 69 View FIGURES 64–70 ); connective broadly Y-shaped, stem short, medial and rib and membrane absent ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 64–70 ); dorsal connective short, plate like, base broad ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES 64–70 ).

Material examined. COLOMBIA: Amazonas , PNN, Amacayacu, Cabaña Lorena, 3º70’S– 69º59’W, 210 m., 27 Aug 01–1 Sep 01, M. 2237, Malaise, D. Campos. ( IAHC) .

Etymology. The name is descriptive for the medial constricted aedeagal shaft.

Remarks. This species can be easily separated from J. larseni by the constricted aedeagus and the pilose, subgenital plate ( Figs. 69, 70, 66 View FIGURES 64–70 ).
